The Berkeley Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Rudolph Clarett (age 45). At approximately 11:00pm, officers responded to the 6100 block of Jefferson Avenue for a report of shots fired. Police officers located Rudolph next to a vehicle where he had been shot. Rudolph was transported to the hospital where he died.
