The Cahokia Heights Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Darvel Thomas (age 17). At approximately 1:35am, officers responded to the 800 block of St. William Drive for a report of shots fired with a man down.  Upon arrival, officers found two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. Darvel Thomas had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene. A 16-year-old had also been shot and was transported to a St. Louis, MO hospital. The juvenile survived the shooting.
