The Madison Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of a 16 year-old male. At approximately 1:15pm, officers responded to the area of Washington Avenue and Wayne Lanter Avenue for a report of shots fired. There they located the teenaged male lying in the intersection. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene.
As a result of this investigation, Rayontae Pearson (age 22) was charged with the following in connection with the teen’s death:
1st Degree Murder (2 counts)
Uunlawful Use of Weapons-Possession of a Machine Gun
Felon in Possession of a Weapon
