The Cahokia Heights Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the deaths of Bruce Mason (age 67) and Laniya White (age 44).
At approximately 9:06pm, officers responded to the 3900 block of Walnut Street for a report of a man shot inside a vehicle. Officers discovered Bruce Mason had been shot inside a vehicle. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
During the execution of a search warrant at a nearby residence, Laniya White was discovered deceased inside the residence from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead on scene.
As a result of this investigation, Shawn Williams (age 54) was charged with 2 counts of Murder with Intent to Kill or Injure in the deaths of Bruce Mason and Laniya White.
