The Cahokia Heights Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Lakarlo Williams (age 48). At approximately 10:095pm, officers responded to the 5800 block of Mitchell Lane for a report of shots fired and a vehicle that had crashed and caught on fire. When officers arrived on scene, they located a vehicle on fire with a male, Lakarlo Williams, inside the vehicle. They pulled Lakarlo from the vehicle and discovered he had been shot. Lakarlo was pronounced dead on scene.
As a result of this investigation, James Crumble (age 58) was charged with 1st Degree Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
