The Madison Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Jaylen Woods (age 19). At approximately 1:00pm, officers responded to the 1700 block of Edwardsville Road for a report of shots fired. There officers found Jaylen lying in the back yard of a residence. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene.
A second person was also shot but survived their gunshot wound.
As a result of this investigation, the following criminal charges were issued:
Caleb Jones (age 23) - 1st Degree Murder, Attempted 1st Degree Murder, and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm - Bond $3,000,000
Frederick Henley (age 19) - Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm - Bond $80,000
