The Berkeley Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Patrick Durley (age 30). At approximately 1:20am, officers responded to the 8600 block of Frost Avenue for a report of shot fired. There they found Patrick in a parking lot. He had been fatally shot.

As a result of this investigation, Robert Ericks Jr (age 41) was charged with Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
