The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Turyan Austell Jr (age 23). At approximately 5:44am, deputies responded to the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center Metro Link Station in East St. Louis for a report of shots fired. There deputies found Turyan who had been shot multiple times. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
As a result of this investigation, Jarell Anderson (age 23) was charged with Murder with Intent to Kill or Injure. His bond was set at $2,000,000.
