The Cahokia Heights Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of LaShawn Bell (age 17). On 12/24/2022 at 11:44pm, police officers responded to the 1400 block of Richard Drive for a report of a male shot and lying in the street. There they located LaShawn Bell on the ground. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead on scene.
As a result of this investigation, Lamarcus Jackson (age 17) and Devontay Chism (age 16) were each charged as an adult with 1st Degree Murder.
