The Des Peres Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Malachi Maclin. At approximately 6:25pm, officers responded to West County Mall (80 West County Center Drive) for a report of a shooting. There officers located Malachi Maclin (age 20) who had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
As a result of this investigation, it was determined there had been an altercation between Malachi Maclin and Jason Hill inside the Champs store which resulted in the shots being fired.
Jason Hill (age 21) was charged with Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action. His bond was set at $500,000.
