The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Carl Silas. On 12-30-2019 at 4:59am, deputies responded to the 2900 block of West Boulevard, an unincorporated area in east Belleville, for a report of a home invasion / shooting. There they discovered Carl Silas (age 28) had been shot and killed inside an apartment.
As a result of this investigation, David Fields (age 20) was charged with First Degree Murder (2 counts) and Home Invasion. His bond was set at $2,000,000.
