The North County Police Cooperative requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Jimmy Smith. At around 3:10pm, police officers responded to the area of the 1100 block of Sutter Avenue in Wellston for a report of shots fired. Officers learned Jimmy Smith (age 34) was shot several times. He was driven to a hospital by a friend where he was pronounced dead.
