The North County Police Cooperative requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Melvin Pogue. Police officers responded to the 6400 block of Myrtle Avenue in Wellston at around 7:23pm for a report of shots fired. When they arrived on scene, they located Melvin Pogue (age 19) who had been shot to death.
As a result of this investigation, Jermaine McDaniels (age 18) has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action. His bail was set at $250,000 cash only.
