The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Darrin Hayes. At around 12:54pm, deputies responded to the 5900 block of Gateway Industrial Drive (in unincorporated Belleville) for a report of a male that had been shot multiple times. There they found Darrin Hayes (age 25) inside his apartment. Hayes had been shot. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
As a result of this investigation, the following criminal charges were issued:
Anthony Allen (age 22) - 1st Degree Murder with bond set at $1,000,000
Amanda Kent (age 26) - 1st Degree Murder with bond set at $1,000,000
Thomas Flakes (age 19) - 1st Degree Murder with bond set at $500,000
Brittney Moore (age 24) - Obstructing Justice with bond set at $250,000
Amanda Kent was also charged in a homicide for Major Case Squad Report #401.
Major Case Squad Deputy Commander Lt. Mike Hundelt held a press conference where he detailed the murder and arrest of four suspects in the homicide of Darrin Hayes. Three of the four suspects have been charged.
