The Madison Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Sybil Brandon. On 12/20/2013 at around 9:00am, police officers responded to the corner of West Third and Jackson Street for a report of a vehicle parked in front of the caller’s residence. Police found the body of Sybil Brandon (age 50) in the trunk of the car. She had been shot in the head.
Sybil was reported as missing in St. Louis on 11/29/2013. Investigators believe Sybil was killed at a residence in St. Louis, MO. Her body was then placed in the trunk of the car and transported to Madison, IL.
As a result of this investigation, Glenn E. Smith (age 39) was charged in St. Louis, MO with 1st Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action.
