The Belleville Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of John Fath, Sr. At around 11:07pm, police officers responded to the 400 block of North 40th Street for a report of a person who had been shot. They located John Fath Sr (age 53) inside a residence with a gunshot wound to his leg. John was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
As a result of this investigation, Dashon Hinkle (age 36) was charged with 1st Degree Murder. His bond was set at $2,000,000.
