The Overland Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Christopher Nelson. Police officers responded to the 9900 block of Baltimore Avenue. There they found Christopher Nelson (age 19) and another woman where they had been sitting in a car together. Both had been shot. Christopher was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The woman survived the shooting.
As a result of this investigation, Trice Edwards (age 28) was charged with Murder 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, and Armed Criminal Action. His bond was set at $500,000 cash only.
