The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating a suspicious death. At approximately 4:11am, deputies responded to a house fire in the area of Ogle Ridge Road near rural Festus. There they located a residence engulfed in flames. The body of a 53 year-old woman was later found inside a bedroom. An investigation revealed the woman had committed suicide.
