The Madison Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Christopher Scott. At approximately 1:44pm, police officers responded to the area of Kohl Street and Race Street for a report of a burned body. There they found Christopher Scott (age 30) deceased. An autopsy showed he died from a gunshot wound.
As a result of this investigation, Ernest Smith (age 38) and Marquan Prete (age 17) were each charged in St. Louis, MO with Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action in Christopher’s death. Their bond was set at $750,000 each.
