The East St. Louis Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Zachary Irvin. At approximately 7:07am, police officers responded to Stoc Trailer Service, 30 Winter Street, for a report of a garden cart on fire. There they discovered a dismembered body had been set on fire inside the cart. The body was determined to be Zachary Irvin (age 22). Autopsy results showed Zachary was killed from a gunshot prior to being dismembered and set on fire.
As a result of this investigation, the following charges were issued in Zachary’s death:
James Pierson (age 35) - 1st Degree Murder and Attempting to Conceal a Homicidal Death - Bond $3,000,000.
A Grand Jury later returned indictments for 1st Degree Murder, Concealment of a Homicidal Death, Aggravated Unlawful Use of Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Dennis Iagulli Jr. (age 41) - Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of Weapon by Felon - Bond $150,000
A Grand Jury later returned indictments for 1st Degree Murder and Concealment of a Homicidal Death.
