The Cahokia Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of LaShane Whitley. At approximately 7:31pm, police officers responded to the Cahokia High School for a report of shots fired. There they found LaShane Whitley (age 17) on the back parking lot of the school. He had been shot during the interval between two basketball games. LaShane was transported to the hospital where he died from his gun shot wound.
As a result of this investigation, Reginald Coleman (age 18) was charged with 1st Degree Murder in LaShane’s death. Reginald’s bond was set at $1,000,000.
