The Madison City Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Charles Ursery. At approximately 11:36pm, police officers responded to an address in the 1600 block of 6th Street for a report of a male who had been stabbed in the chest. They located Charles Ursery (age 61) inside a residence with a stab wound to his chest. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injury.
As a result of this investigation, Leonard Higgins Jr (age 39) was charged with 1st Degree Murder in Charles’ death. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
