The Festus Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of a 44 year-old male. At approximately 3:00am, police officers responded to an area in downtown Festus for a report of a vehicle on fire. After the fire department extinguished the fire, officers located the badly burnt body of the man. After a thorough investigation, it was determined the man had committed suicide by setting fire to the vehicle while he was inside it.
