Suspects: Janson D. Dotson and Carlos Lamont Lawson
The Jennings Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of James Blanks. Police officers responded to the 7200 block of Emma Avenue for a report of a shooting into a dwelling. There they located James Blanks (age 43) at a residence where he had been shot. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. A second male at the residence had also been shot, but he survived his injuries.
As a result of this investigation, the following criminal charges were issued:
Janson Dotson (age 24) - Murder 2nd Degree and Attempted Robbery 1st Degree - Conspiracy. No-bond warrant.
Carlos Lawson (age 20) - Murder 2nd Degree and Attempted Robbery 1st Degree. $250,000 bond.
