The Cahokia Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of James Rogers, Jr. At approximately 1:05pm, police officers responded to an apartment in the 900 block of Frontenac for a report of a possible homicide. There they located James Rogers, Jr. (age 20) inside the residence where he had been shot.
With the assistance of this investigation that was continued by the Cahokia Police Department, the following charges were issued 4 years later:
Kenny G. Wicks (age 22 at the time of the murder) - 1st Degree Murder - Bond $1,000,000
Demond Eckford (age 23 at the time of the murder) - 1st Degree Murder - Bond $2,000,000
Dontez Crumble (age 23 at the time of the murder) - 1st Degree Murder - Bond $1,000,000
