The Collinsville Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of John Byrd, Jr. At approximately 6:44am, police officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Emilie St after a family member located John inside the residence. When officers arrived on scene, they located John Byrd, Jr (age 41) dead from multiple stab wounds.
With the assistance of this investigation that was continued by the Collinsville Police Department, Hubert Hill (age 42 at the time of John’s death) was charged 2 years later in 2009 with Murder 2nd Degree. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
