The Belleville Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Darrell Campbell. At around 10:01pm, police officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Roosevelt Ave for a report of shots fired. There they located Darrell Campbell (age 16) inside the residence. He had been shot multiple times. He was transported to a hospital in St. Louis where he died the following day.
