The Belleville Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Paula Weinmann. At approximately 1:23pm, police officers responded to Rent-A-Center (614 N 89th St) after lawn care workers found the body of a woman behind the business. When officers arrived on scene, they located the body of Paula Weinmann (age 36) behind the business. She had been shot and killed. She had been reported missing on 07/02/2005 to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
As a result of this investigation, Jon Cearlock (age 21) and Jordon Matlock (age 23) were both charged with 1st Degree Murder and Concealment of a Homicidal Death. Their bond was set at $700,000 each.
