The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the deaths of Cheryl Campbell and Brian Campbell. At approximately 9:51am, a telephone call was placed to 911 from a residence in the 2300 block of Llewelyn Road near Belleville. Nobody was talking to the dispatcher on the 911 call. The dispatcher heard gunshots on the 911 call and sent a deputy to investigate. When deputies arrived at the residence, they located Brian Campbell (age 48) and his wife, Cheryl Campbell (age 52) dead from gunshot wounds.
As a result of this investigation, Cheryl’s son, Brian Ward (age 25), was charged with 2 counts of 1st Degree Murder. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
