The Maplewood Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Andre Hancock. At approximately 1:24am, police officers responded to the 2500 block of Bellevue Avenue in response to a 911 call of a shooting inside an apartment. There they located Andre Hancock (age 31) inside the residence where he had been shot. He was transported to the hospital where he died.

As a result of this investigation, Bennie Nelson (age 53) and Jeffrey Bulard (age 41) were both charged with Murder 2nd Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Robbery 1st Degree, and Armed Criminal Action. Their bond was set at $500,000 each.
