The Jennings Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of John Joseph. At approximately 2:37am, a police officer located a vehicle parked on a business parking lot in the 8900 block of Jennings Station Road. The registered owner of the vehicle, John Joseph, was listed as a missing person on 01/22/2001 with the Berkeley Police Department. Upon examining the vehicle, the body of John Joseph (age 37) was located in the rear compartment. It was determined he had been killed by a gunshot to the chest.
As a result of this investigation, Amos Patrick IV (age 39) was charged with Murder 2nd Degree, Abandonment of a Corpse, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Tampering with a Victim/Witness, and Armed Criminal Action. He was arrested on a no-bond warrant.
