Suspect: Jean-Paul Gibson

The Sunset Hills Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Rodney Venice. At approximately 9:07pm, police officers responded to a commuter lot in the 12300 block of Old Gravois Road for a 911 call from a woman stating her ex-husband, Jean-Paul Gibson, had shot at her. When officers arrived on scene, they located the woman with severe non-gunshot injuries to her body. They also located Rodney Venice (age 43) dead in the parking lot from a gunshot wound. It was determined Rodney Venice was a passerby who saw Jean-Paul Gibson causing bodily harm to his ex-wife. Rodney attempted to intervene and was shot and killed.

As a result of this investigation, Jean-Paul Gibson (age 35) was charged with Murder 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, and Armed Criminal Action. He was arrested on a no-bond warrant.
