The Madison City Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Harvey Holt. Police officers responded to a residence in the 1900 block of Harris, Madison, IL. There they located Harvey Holt (age 73) who had been shot and killed.

As a result of this investigation, Richard Caudill (age 48) was charged with 1st Degree Murder. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
