The Madison County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Toni Vandee. At approximately 9:13am, the Wood River Police Department received a call about a nude body on Sumner Lane west of Hwy 111. When police officers arrived on scene, they located the body of Toni VanDee (age 28) in the roadway. She had died from severe blunt trauma to the head and was pronounced dead on scene. It was determined the roadway was in unincorporated Madison County and the scene was turned over to the Madison County Sheriff’s Dept.
As a result of this investigation, Randy Phillips (age 23) was charged with Reckless Homicide. His bond was set at $75,000.
