The Madison City Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Curtis Hurlbut. At approximately 7:42pm, officers responded to an apartment in the 1900 block of Edwardsville Road for a report of a male who was injured. When police arrived, they located Curtis Hurlbut (age 18) lying on a sidewalk in front of the apartment. Curtis had been struck in the face causing him to fall and strike his head on a concrete sidewalk. He was airlifted to the hospital where he died from his injury.

As a result of this investigation, Jason Henry (age 16 - charged as an adult) was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter. His bond was set at $40,000.
