The Greenville Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Thomas Meyer. At approximately 5:54pm, police officers responded to an alley in the 300 block of West College Street for a report of man lying in the alley. When police arrived, they located S. Thomas Meyer (age 67). He had been shot and killed outside of his law firm.
During this investigation, Kelly McGinnis was determined to be the suspect in this case. Thomas Meyer was the divorce lawyer for Kelly McGinnis’ ex-wife.
As a result of this investigation, Kelly McGinnis (age 39) was charged with 1st Degree Murder. He was arrested on a no-bond warrant.
