The Maryland Heights Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Sherry Campbell. At approximately 11:31pm, police officers responded to the Quick Trip Store (11525 Dorsett Road) for a report of a person who had been shot. When they arrived, they located Sherry Campbell (age 20) sitting inside the passenger seat of a vehicle. She had been shot and was transported to the hospital where she later died.
The investigation showed Sherry had originally been sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle at Reynolds Roadhouse (11488 Dorsett Road) when she was shot. The driver sped away as the shooter shot several more times into the vehicle. The driver then drove to the Quick Trip Store and called the police. The driver was uninjured.
As a result of this investigation, Ronnell Mottley (age 18) was charged with Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action. He was arrested on a no-bond warrant.
