The Jennings Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Jerald Fortenberry. At approximately 4:49am, police officers responded to the 8900 block of Mayfield Court for a report of a person shot. Officers arrived on scene and located Jerald Fortenberry (age 24) lying on the ground. He had been shot. He was transported to the hospital where he died.
