The Charlack Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Tommy Vaughn (age 71). At approximately 6:19am, police officers responded to a residence in the 8400 block of El Quito Lane for a report of three unattended children: two one-year-old children and a three-year-old child. When officers entered the residence, they located the three children unharmed inside the residence. They also located Tommy Vaughn inside a bedroom with his arms tied behind his back. He had been stabbed and was pronounced dead on scene.

As a result of this investigation, John Collins (age 37) was charged with Murder 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, and Burglary 1st Degree in Tommy’s death. He was arrested on a no-bond warrant.
