The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the deaths of David Walls (age 39) and Fred Branch (age 43). At approximately 7:35am, police officers responded to the 2700 block of Trendley Avenue in unincorporated East St. Louis for a report of shots fired with a subject down. There they located David Walls and Fred Branch in the front yard of a residence. They had both been shot. David Walls was pronounced dead on scene. Fred Branch was transported to the hospital where he later died.
