The Kinloch Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Sherman Stewart (age 29). At approximately 12:18am, police officers responded to the 8100 block of Stanza Avenue for a report of a vehicle accident. While officers were enroute to the vehicle accident, they received a second call of shots fired at the same location. When they arrived on scene, they located Sherman Stewart slumped over in the driver’s seat of a 1978 Cadillac which was in the yard of an apartment building. He had been shot and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
As a result of this investigation, John Luckett (age 30) and his nephew, Jerome Luckett (age 18), were both charged with Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action.
