The Kinloch Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Joseph Smith (age 54). At approximately 12:08am, police officers responded to a residence in the 5700 block of Roman Court for a report of a robbery and shooting. Inside the residence, they located Joseph Smith. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene.

As a result of this investigation, Kerry Crockett (age 29) was charged with Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action. His bond was set at $265,000.
