The Cool Valley Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the deaths of Regina Burgess (age 20) and Laronne Burgess (age 3). At approximately 9:41am, police officers responded to at a residence in the 8400 block of Fresno Court for a report of a dead body. Inside the residence, officers located Regina Burgess and her son, Laronne Burgess Jr. They had both been beaten about the head and were pronounced dead on scene. It was learned Regina was approximately three to four months pregnant at the time of her death.
As a result of this investigation, Lester Taylor (age 23) was charged with Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action in Regina and Laronne’s deaths. His bond was set at $150,000. Lester was later charged with Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action in the death of Regina’s unborn child.
