The Pagedale Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of John Steffen (age 61). At approximately 3:26pm, police officers responded to Wellston Auto Paint Company (7330 St. Charles Rock Road) for a report of a man down. There they located the manager, John Steffen, on the floor. He had been stabbed and pronounced dead at the scene. Cash and a vehicle were discovered to be missing from the business.
As a result of this investigation, a former employee of the business, Glenn Burrow (age 20), was charged with Murder 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, and Robbery 1st Degree.
