The Jennings Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Mark Miller (age 21). At approximately 4:16pm, police officers responded to a residence in the 5600 block of Hodiamont Avenue for a report of a sudden death. A family member went to check on Mark Miller after he had not been seen since 07/09/1987. There Mark Miller was located inside the residence. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene.
As a result of this investigation, James Rocha (age 18) was charged with Murder 1st Degree. His bond was set at $100,000. Later, Donald Watts (age 16 - charged as an adult) was charged with Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.
