The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Gary Sloan (age 21). At approximately 2:45pm, deputies responded to County Line Road approximately 1.9 miles west of Troy O’Fallon Road (also known as Scott Field Troy Road) for a report of a body lying in the ditch. There they located Gary Sloan in the ditch alongside County Line Road. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene. He was reported as a missing person on 03/09/1987 to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.

As a result of this investigation, Jerry Lee Pardieck (age 21) was charged with 1st Degree Murder, Concealment of a Homicidal Death, and Armed Violence. He was arrested on a no-bond warrant.

Benjamin Louer Sr (age 25) was charged with Concealment of a Homicidal Death. His bond was set at $50,000.
