The St. Charles Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Robert Brase Jr (age 21). On 05/03/1981 at approximately 3:30pm, the body of Robert Brase Jr was found floating in the Mississippi River by a barge towing company near the Alton Dam construction site. Robert had been reported as a missing person on 04/29/1981 after falling into the Missouri side of the Mississippi River near the Hwy 67 Alton Bridge on 04/26/1981 and not being seen since then. After a thorough investigation, it was determined Robert had accidentally fallen into the river and drowned.
