The Olivette Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Estelle Stern (age 68). On 05/19/1975 at approximately 10:23pm, police officers responded to a residence in the 9500 block of Indian Meadows Drive for a well-being check. There officers found Estelle Stern inside the residence. She had been stabbed and was pronounced dead on scene.

As a result of this investigation, Gerald Garrett (age 17 - charged as an adult) was charged with Murder 1st Degree. His bond was set at $250,000.
