The Maplewood Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Gwynne Aarant (age 30). At approximately 11:22am, police officers responded to an apartment in the 2500 block of South Big Bend Boulevard for a report of a burglary. There officers located Gwynne Aarant inside the residence. She had been strangled and stabbed and was pronounced dead on scene.

As a result of this investigation, the manager for Gwynne’s apartment complex, Richard Johnson (age 23) was charged with Murder 1st Degree in Gwynne’s death. His bond was set at $100,000.
