The Herculaneum Police Department requested the assistance of the Major Case Squad in investigating the death of Louis Hasty (age 41). At approximately 5:05am, police officers responded to the Artesian Lounge (777 Joachim Avenue) for a report of a shooting. There they located part owner and operator of the business, Louis Hasty, inside the business. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene.

As a result of this investigation, Joseph Arbeiter (age 26) was charged with the murder of Louis Hasty.
